Through 16 portraits of cannabis users, Sydney-based advertising and editorial photographer Simon Bernhardt is attempting to dispel stereotypes, while sparking serious debate about whether cannabis is really a gateway drug, and its possible future legalisation.
Gateway?, features sixteen engaging, contemporary portraits of long-term Australian cannabis users.
“This exhibition is about making people aware that anyone can be a cannabis user. It will be confronting, engaging and thought-provoking,” states Bernhardt. “The clinical manner in which I have shot these photographs, aims to eliminate any emotion from the sensitive subject of illegal drug use and portray the human face and story behind cannabis users.”
