The Fata Morgana is a type of superior mirage, which can be seen in both polar and desert regions.
Dreaming of Fata Morgana considers the metaphor of the mirage as an ambiguous space existing between the real and the imaged. Explored during daylight and darkness, the sublime landscape of sea ice that forms in the winter months on the Gulf of Finland acts as a stage for the creation of unfamiliar realities. This work is informed by the act of traversing an environment both vast and inhospitable and the resulting fears, dreams and manifestations.
